At the end of the second free practice session at the Slovakiaring, it was Tiago Pinto Bastos and Pedro Ebrahim (Aston Martin Vantage GT4) who stood out as the fastest entry of the GTC Endurance Challenge. In FP2, the Brazilian duo set a 2:11.239 – the quickest lap time of the entire weekend so far in the series promoted by Riza International.
Despite the persistent windy conditions throughout the entire 45 minutes, as well as a small red flag intermission, the Gino Motorsport crew was able to navigate all obstacles to top the standings by just 0.051s. It was the Porsche Cayman 718 of Autorlando, the fellow Pro-Am entry driven by Adriano Visdomini and Koray Kamiloglu, who just fell short of top spot. Third position, as well as the lead in the Am standings, belonged to the other Porsche of Trost/Eder instead. The fourth quickest time was set by the third Pro-Am entry of Nardilli/Gavazza (BMW M4 GT4 Evo), while FP1’s pace-setters Damante/Maccari (Alpine A110 GT4) had to settle for fifth, while being second fastest in the Am standings. Trouble continued down at Lema Racing: a broken clutch prevented Kornelia Olkucka (Mercedes AMG GT4) from setting a lap time, with her Mercedes teammates of Antonucci/Mancinelli also failing to put in a representative lap.
The on-track action for Friday is not over yet, as qualifying is set to start at 17:40 local time with two 15-minute turns. The two stages, shared on track with TCR European Endurance, will steal the show throughout the rest of the weekend. Stage-1 will take place on Saturday 6 June at 10:05 local time, while the green flag for stage-2 is set to be waived on Sunday 7 June at 11:40 local time. Both stages will be broadcast on TCR TV’s official YouTube channel, with Daniele Spadi providing commentary on both occasions, and also on PitwallTV and Acelera GP’s YouTube channels.
