Wimmer Werk Motorsport is extending its programme and will join the GT4 grid of the 2026 GTC Endurance Challenge. The team run by brothers Max and Felix Wimmer will compete in both endurance championships promoted by RIZA International, entering the GT4 category as well as the TCR European Endurance, which from 2026 will be run alongside the GTC Endurance Challenge. In the GT4 class, the German outfit will race with a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4, while in the TCR European Endurance it will continue its commitment with the Cupra TCR DSG. Following the announcement of Maximilian Kochendörfer’s debut at the wheel of the Cupra, Wimmer Werk Motorsport therefore doubles its presence on the grid, relying on a car that has already been extensively proven.
The team boasts solid experience with the Cayman GT4, gained through numerous entries in ADAC GT4 and the European GT4 Series. With the introduction of the RS package unveiled in Weissach in 2021, the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 adopted a designation traditionally reserved for the 911 models, thanks to its naturally aspirated 4.0-litre engine derived directly from the 911 GT3. Meticulously developed from an aerodynamic standpoint as well, the Cayman GT4 has proven to be a winning car, particularly in endurance competitions such as the ADAC Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, before also achieving success at international level. The 2026 season will also mark the debut of this car in the GTC Endurance Challenge format, which features races split into two 55-minute stages, a formula already appreciated by drivers and industry professionals in the TCR European Endurance.
In addition to targeting the GT4 title, the team will be aiming to confirm its strength in the TCR European Endurance following an extremely positive debut season. In 2025, three titles were secured: Eric Scalvini and Salvatore Tavano claimed the overall drivers’ championship, Senna Summerbell won the title reserved for DSG cars, while Wimmer Werk Motorsport also captured the teams’ championship with a total of 520 points.
The experience gained in 2025 will be a key factor heading into 2026, with the aim of being one of the leading contenders from the very first round at Vallelunga, scheduled for 19 April.
